About the artist
I love art, and I love people. When I sit down with a client, I bring years of experience with both to the table. My goal is to define YOUR values and YOUR ideas, and produce them in a work of art that conveys that message with maximum impact. The biggest reward for me is to share in the excitement of my clients as they witness their concept come to life. My success depends on your satisfaction! Biography
Iain Keith Murray was born dead in Grande Prairie, Alberta, in 1976. After a few moments, he decided to join us, and hasn’t looked back since. He grew up in rural New Brunswick where he developed an affinity for fine art, dance, drama, music, mythology and the great outdoors.
When Iain moved out at the age of thirteen he helped support himself by doing portraits in malls and on streets, leading to jobs doing murals, posters, and t-shirts as well. He continued with these endeavors throughout his years in high school and the air cadets, from which he graduated in 1994 with several awards and a pilot’s license.
His success and passion in the arts led to his admission into NSCAD in 1996, where Iain served on the student union and spent a semester on exchange in Dundee, Scotland. He then found himself disillusioned with both the art world and academia, and left NSCAD 2 weeks prior to completion.
After traveling, working at an art supply store, a stained glass studio, and freelance illustration on the side, Iain moved back to Halifax, settled somewhat and went back to school. He graduated in 2006 with a major in Studio & Fine Arts, and maintains ties within the institution.
Iain works in several media including drawing, painting, printmaking, jewellery, film, video, sculpture, and ceramics. His first solo show was in December of 2008, and he opened his commercial illustration business in January of 2009, and remembers idleness as a nebulous piece of the distant past.
